As anyone who suffers chronic pain will tell you, it is debilitating, depressing and demoralising.
I have been using a system of "Tapping" on myself and my patients for
years that WORKS! You can take your physical and emotional wellbeing
into your own hands. It's simple for anyone to master, and it's free!
Tapping provides relief from
chronic pain, emotional problems, disorders, addictions, phobias, post
traumatic stress disorder, and physical diseases. Tapping uses the
body's energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points
by tapping on them with your fingertips - literally tapping into your
body's own energy and healing power.
Tapping is simple and painless. And you can apply it to yourself, whenever you want, wherever you are!
You
should use a firm but gentle pressure, as if you were drumming on the
side of your desk. Use the first two or three fingers (the index and
middle and ring fingers). Tap with your fingertips, not your
fingernails. Tap 3-7 times on each point as you speak. There are many
more points that can be used, but your INTENTION is all that is needed
for now.
The two points to use at first are found 1) at a point
in the middle of your chest, which is halfway between your throat base
and your heart. This is called the Higher Heart Centre. Start to tap
here. Then, 2) Move to the top of your head. The major area here will be
found by imagining a line running from the tip of one ear to the tip of
the other ear. This is the general area you need to 'tap' in- on the
top of your skull. So, as you talk, you switch between these two points.
The
next thing to do before starting to tap is to 'rate' your level of pain
from 0 - 10. Ten being the absolute worst pain, and zero being no pain
at all. Also, think of what 'emotion' that pain would be, even if you
don't understand why. If the answer is sadness, or sorrow, or guilt, you
have a starting point to release that pain within you.
So, using
your fingertips and starting at the 'Higher Heart' centre, say
something like the following: - I am feeling pain in my- (mention where
you are hurting). I now choose to release this right there where I feel
sore or 'not quite right.' - "I'm scared because of the pain and I am
worried that if I focus on it, it will just get worse. I am afraid that
if I love and acknowledge this pain, it will always be there, just like
it has for a while now. I can't quite see that it already is, so maybe
what I am doing isn't working - maybe what I'm doing and have done in
the past is keeping it there. So, I am now willing to let go of the fear
and emotion surrounding my pain. Letting go. Letting go. I don't know
what it's like to feel good all the time! It's scary to feel good all
the time, because it means I have to be responsible for my own life -
for me. Letting it go. Letting it go. Letting it go, now. At a cellular
level, my body is now responding to my words and my thoughts. Wellness
will now become more familiar to me. I can be in a place of wellness and
well being. I feel good. I feel great.
Then, take a deep breath in and slowly let it out and relax.
Then,
think back to where you first assessed your pain. You may have 'rated'
it as being 9 out of a possible 10. After this, it should have gone down
to a much lower number, or maybe it's gone straight to a zero.
